Metallica dumped exclusive Sonisphere contract for Glastonbury
Sonisphere Festival organisers have revealed that Metallica dumped their exclusive deal with them for a chance to play at Glastonbury.
The organisers say that they had signed a deal which meant Metallica would exclusively perform at their festival, but confirmed the band asked to be released from the contract after Glastonbury 2014 was offered to them.
“It was only last week that the band were officially asked to headline the legendary Pyramid Stage and, in turn, they immediately asked Team Sonisphere what we thought about releasing them from their exclusive appearance at Sonisphere,” a spokesperson said.
“Glastonbury is an institution and the pinnacle of performance for any artist in the UK and we know the band will be amazing!”
Metallica will take a slot at Glastonbury along with hundreds of other acts from a variety of genres including Arcade Fire, Kasabian, Dolly Parton and many more…
The bash kicks off on Wednesday 25th June 2014 and runs until Sunday 29th.
