Eavis plans relocation for Glastonbury Festival 2019
Michael Eavis has revealed plans to move Glastonbury Festival 100 miles down the road in order to help protect Worthy Farm.
The move is could happen as often as every 5 years and will help the farm land to recover.
The first move is planned for 2019.
“I am arranging for one year off, say every fifth year or so, to try and move the show to a site that’s more suitable, I have to say. But it would be a huge loss to Somerset if it went there forever, would it not?” said the festival founder.
“We’ve got a wonderful product, what we do, and we can do it almost anywhere. I love my own farm … I might have to move it eventually.
“Most people are on side now and it’s a wonderful, wonderful boost for the whole of Somerset and beyond as well.”
Fans do not have to fear a permanent move from the spiritual site though. Eavis added: “I don’t want to lose it for ever, no way.”
There is currently no confirmation of where the new site will be located.
